"to regard all humans as equals" sikhs read gurbani- to become gurmat- gurmat means to have the thought process of the sikh gurus. and hence to think and act like a sikh. simply being baptised and wearing the 5 k's is not enough to be a sikh, however it is used to identify a sikh.
